I was so privileged to search for a house in Chennai.
This was a unique experience for me. Though I searched for a house in Adyar area, this would really help anyone searching a house not only in Chennai, but around the world.
Tip 1: Look for Local Newspaper
Our area, Adyar has a local newspaper , Adyar times, which comes out every Sunday.
Tip 2: Look for Websites
NoBroker.com MagicBricks are some of the websites which help us to search a house. They have various search options, which helps us to find a house of our taste. But there are some problems like, the house would have already gone, place of search duplicated if there are two places of same name etc.
Tip 3: Ask those who are already staying there now
Find and meet friends or friends of friends who will help us to guide about the place and house availability
Tip 4: Try to avoid broker
They keep nagging us, till we find a house. Also, they will force us to take a house by limiting the houses they show.
